Nimmu House, Ladakh (TRADITIONAL HOUSE)

Nimmu House, Ladakh (TRADITIONAL HOUSE)

An imposing building of 1,200 sq meters, Nimmu House is one of the last surviving examples of a significant original style of traditional architecture in Ladakh. Located about 40 minutes from Leh, in the Nimmu village, close to Indus and Zanskar rivers, the house is one of the very few noble houses that survive today. The house is a unique place with 30 beautiful rooms, including two Buddhist temples, stables, an orchard of 5000sq meters with hundreds of apricot, apple and walnut trees. Being renovated in phases, the owners of Nimmu house have turned this renovation project into something of a local heritage project where the project will aim to preserve the local culture, tradition and architecture, provide and create economical activities for the locals and at the same time promises travellers an authentic, comfortable and a fresh experience in Ladakh.

At the end of the renovation next year, the estate will offer 12 rooms & suites, 5 tents, a dining, a library, a living room, a roof top terrace, 2 restaurants, yoga & meditation room, a spa and plenty of common areas to laze around.

Bindu the talented  hostess is a French of Indian origin and fuels her passion for trekking & skiing by spending summer's in Ladakh and winters in France as a ski resort manager.
